• Innov8athon IV:

    Innov8 Paint

  • What is Innov8athon?

    Innov8 Paint! November 14th 9am-6pm

At Sherwin Williams we love everyday innovations
For centuries, we have painted with what some refer to as “pig hair on a stick”. Painting is messy & time consuming from preparation to clean up. There has to be a better way! And that’s why we need your help. We’re looking for your ideas, your creativity and your collaboration in a contest to
    hack the painting process.

$2,000 is up for grabs for the winning team!

    ($500 for two runner's up)

Additionally, all students in attendance will receive a $25 Visa gift card for their participation.

This is the fourth in a rotating series of Innov8athon events presented by Blackstone LaunchPad Kent State University. Previous Innov8athons include the Fashion Tech hackathon and the original business pitch Innov8athon.

Blackstone LaunchPad at Kent State promotes entrepreneurship as a viable career path. We support Kent State entrepreneurship by helping KSU students, faculty/staff, and alumni transform their ideas into thriving businesses. Through meetings, mentoring, workshops and events LaunchPad helps create new businesses or grow existing start-ups in Northeast Ohio.

What is happening at this hack?

    Innov8 Paint! November 14th 9am-6pm

    1. We’ll bring you up to speed on the current ways people paint via internet video links
    2. On the day of the hack, we will show you this process in some detail and let you see and handle the tools of the trade
    3. We’ll provide you information about the pain points in the process- we think this is a good place to address a new innovation
    4. We’ll work with you to guide the thought process with our own gurus of application tools
    5. There will be lots of tools at your disposal to create your new way to prep, paint or clean up.
    6. At the end of the process your team will need to:

    • Explain your idea
    • Tell us your value proposition
    • Show us an articulated design e.g. CAD, 3D printed model, roller with new fabrics, sensor-enabled applicator, new app
